PowerConnect

In this project, the aim was to inform the user how PowerConnect could benefit them and to encourage them to sign up for the course.

The solution

The end result of this project included the design and development of two web pages.

Overview

Commercial fit-outs require safe electrical installations. Traditional bus-bar systems are labour intensive and thereby expensive.

The PowerConnect system is simpler to install; this saves labour time and money. For installers to train to use PowerConnect, they must attend a course.

This project aims to empathise with electrical installers and to design an online experience that entices them to find out more and to sign up for the course.

Research

I conducted interviews, from that information I created a user persona to represent electrical installers. Throughout the project, I referred to the persona when writing copy and making design decisions.

In the research process, I also completed competitor research and created a SWOT analysis. From this research, I listed three common pain points with the competitors product.
Common pain points that installers face
Lot's of labour
The competitor's  product is hardwired into buildings; it is very labour intensive to install.
High install cost
Due to the labour intensive process , the cost of the project for the installer.
Sales
To win projects, installers must able to sell their services; this can be stressful.

Once the research was completed, I used it to design the low-fidelity wireframes in Adobe XD.

Final design

When the wireframes were approved and the content was created, I used WordPress to develop the web pages..

The results

I completed a second round of user testing to gather and compare data from before the redesign.
